Do you know if the consultants are always compensated in shares or options to a client company?
The situation is start-up venture capital, but can not (not) to pay my rates indicated (I am an independent consultant, reengineering of business). They want me to come back with something much lower, perhaps half. I'm okay with that if I can negotiate something in return (and not just low price regardless). Suggested otherwise in the future (for them, as a society), so I wonder if there is a way for me as non-employees to get stock options, if I can lower my consulting fees. I have no experience with non-cash compensation as a consultant. Anyone out there have good information or ideas? Search27Man - Thank you for your candid assessment, born of their experience. I am interested in what others might say too much.
Yes ... stock options, barter, goods that can be converted into cash. Many ways to be compensated. The biggest problem is that they are new and they are racing down. They are and move on to other jobs.
