These dividends, however, may only be paid to you if the company has earned them. Sometimes a company will lose money in one year but continue paying preferred dividends from the accumulated profits of earlier years. Most preferred shares are cumulative, which means the company, if it skips one or more dividend payments, is obligated to make them up at a later date when and if earnings permit. The principal feature about preferred stocks is that they give the holder this prior position in the distribution in any net profits earned. Bond interest (if a company has bonds) comes ahead of preferred dividends, but the preferred shareholders must get their full dividend at the stated rate before common stockholders receive anything. Preferred stocks are usually given a definite par value.

It may indeed produce a tragic loss. To illustrate, in 1930, Technicolor Corp. had a new process that seemed destined to revolutionize the movie industry, producing pictures in natural colors instead of the traditional black and white. The romance of this new process fascinated speculators and they bought Technicolor avidly. It sold as high as $85 a share in 1930, yet dropped dismally to $1 a share in less than two years when it was realized that the process was quite expensive and would take a long time in commercial development. In the years since, Technicolor never again sold anywhere near 85.

I like chocolate .. but the industry has a dark side (Mmmmm.. Dark Chocolate), which gives new meaning to the whole expression "guilty pleasure" ... As it is sold as a commodity futures has - apparently two-thirds of all products cocoa comes from West Africa, where it is alleged that an estimated 90% of cocoa plantations in Côte d'Ivoire have used a certain type of labor slave labor to remain viable. When cocoa prices drop, farmers in West Africa sometimes cut costs using forced labor ... So in that spirit - Would you pay more for their chocolate to ensure it was fair trade? Would you boycott your favorite bar if you thought that could mae a difference in their practices and ethics ..? Please do lovers Chocolate!

I believe that labor laws should be strengthened, and if the chocolate to get the confidence of having a secure job and a salary equal and all that, the prices sky rocket automatically ... However, I believe that only the U.S., the price of chocolate will never be too high ... we are all dependent the sweet, creamy goodness. I say the price for security and better working conditions for our people chocolate. Your UMPA Lumpa bad too, are not Actual ... could have all the chocolate you want, without having to worry about people being abused and exploited. I enjoy chocolate, it would be a great help:)

How to be a speculator Brent crude oil prices?

I started a personal fund of U.S. $ 100, 000. I intend buy oil contracts for Brent and hope the appreciation of oil prices. How do I get that game? I can raise a Another U.S. $ 100, 000 to increase the size of investment. I live in Malaysia, a council to do in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong is very good. pls recommend the exchange goods from the right, or large financial institution who are willing to accept me as an investor.

Brent is traded on the ICE (Intercontinental Exchange), formerly IPE (International Petroleum Exchange in London). You can also use the WTI (West Texas Intermediate oil Gross) to the ICE. You need to find a broker of futures on Brent North Sea. Call them and ask them if they have contracts. Or contact www.theice.com ICE and information on trade data for raw materials Brent. But I warn you, the futures is a very high risk. Yes you can have $ 100,000, but you can lose everything very quickly and most if not what you do. Do your due diligence before arriving on energy commercial. They are very volatile and highly leveraged instruments and therefore much care.
